On January 24, 2018, the Hellenic Paralympic Committee organized an award ceremony to honor the top Greek athletes with disabilities of 2017 and their coaches. Following an invitation by the President of the Committee, Mr. George Fountoulakis, Ambassador Zou attended the ceremony together with his spouse. Heads of Greek political parties, representatives of the Government and the Parliament, celebrities, as well as foreign diplomats honored the event with their presence.
In his speech, President Fountoulakis thanked the Embassy of the P.R. of China in Greece and COSCO Group for their great support for the work of the Paralympic Committee. Captain Fu Cheng Qiu, CEO of COSCO Piraeus Ltd, received an award on behalf of the COSCO Shipping Charity Foundation. Ambassador Zou Xiaoli was kindly asked to present a Greek fencing athlete with a prize and say a few words. The Ambassador said that it was a great honor to be invited to this award ceremony, and that he was deeply moved by the deeds and achievements of the athletes. He also emphasized that Sino-Greek friendship runs very deep, as well as that the Chinese feel great gratitude for the Greek athletes for all the help they offered to their Chinese counterparts in times of need. The Embassy of China together with Chinese enterprises in Greece wish to continue supporting the work of the Paralympic Committee and contribute to the economic and social development of the country as a whole. Finally, he expressed his wish that the Greek athletes will achieve great results in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and invited them to take part in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. After the ceremony, Ambassador Zou and Mr. Fountoulakis engaged in a friendly discussion. |
