A total of more than 50 people attended the meeting, including the Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC), Mr. Ning Jizhe, the Greek Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Stergios Pitsiorlas, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Greece, Zou Xiaoli, members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information, as well as high-ranking executives from the transport, infrastructure, energy, and telecommunications sectors. The Deputy Prime Minister of Greece, Yannis Dragasakis, met with the Chinese and Greek heads of the Working Group.
The meeting opened with a positive review of the important progress made by both countries in the field of investment cooperation since the first meeting of the Working Group in May 2017; there followed an exchange of views regarding future projects and key areas for investment that will take Sino-Greek cooperation to the next phase. Finally, after a consensus was reached, a series of important deals were signed including, among else, an Agreement between China Shenhua and Coimbra Group (CG); a Memorandum of Understanding between China Shenhua, Greece's Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Coimbra Group; a Memorandum of Cooperation between China Development Bank-Ningbo Branch and Greece's Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE); and, finally, a Trilateral Strategic Cooperation Agreement between China Development Bank-Ningbo Branch, Mytilineos Group and China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Ning Jizhe said that this meeting summed up all the achievements recorded in Sino-Greece infrastructure cooperation, while ideas and proposals regarding the future development of such cooperation were put forward. He also added that the Greek enterprises and government departments involved responded positively to the requests of Chinese enterprises.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Stergios Pitsiorlas stated that the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative is largely compatible with Greece's developmental strategy, pointing out that the Three-year Action plan has already produced early results. This has had a positive impact, allowing for the further development of investment cooperation between China and Greece.
On November 1, 2017, Deputy Director Ning Jizhe convened a meeting for Chinese enterprises that was organized at the premises of the Chinese Embassy. Ambassador Zou Xiaoli presided over the meeting.
