Chinese Embassy in Greece Holds Farewell/Welcome Reception for Defense Attaches

On the evening of November 7, 2016, H.E. Chinese Ambassador Zou Xiaoli held a reception in the Embassy to bid farewell to the outgoing Defense Attache Senior Colonel Han Xiao, and to welcome his successor Senior Colonel Xu Dazhuang. Nearly 100 guests, from Greek Armed Forces, diplomatic community, Chinese institutions, overseas Chinese community in Greece as well as public figures from various circles, attended the reception including Deputy Chief of HNDGS Lt. Gen. Georgios Paraschopoulos, Chief of HAFGS Lt. Gen. Christos Vaitsis, A' Deputy Chief of HAGS Lt. Gen. Dimitrios Thomaidis, Commander of Naval Training and Naval Academy RADM Diakopoulos Alexandros.

   

In his speech, H.E. Ambassador Zou said that during the past 5 years, Sen. Col. Han acted well as the military envoy from China and made remarkable contribution to foster the military ties with fruitful outcomes, significantly enhancing the mutual understanding and mutual trust between China and Greece. Sen. Col. Han deserves the credit for many tasks, from security arrangements of top Chinese leaders' visits to Greece to evacuation of Chinese nationals from Libya. The Ambassador also expressed his warm welcome to Sen. Col. Xu, expecting him to make new and greater contribution to the further development of bilateral military relationship and practical cooperation. The Ambassador claimed that the military-to-military ties have now become an important part of China-Greece Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and the Chinese side expects to have more defense consultations, joint trainings and warship visits with the Greek side, seek cooperation opportunities in defense industry, and bring the military-to-military relations to a higher level for the peace and stability of the region and beyond.

   
Sen. Col. Han reviewed his work and life in Greece in the past 5 years, and expressed sincere thanks to officials from the Hellenic Armed Forces, to friends from various communities and to colleagues from the Chinese Embassy for their assistance and support.

Sen. Col. Xu said that he will earnestly perform his duty to promote the exchanges and mutual trust between the two militaries and hope to receive generous support from all friends in Greece.

   
On behalf of the Greek side, Deputy Chief of HNDGS Lt. Gen. Georgios Paraschopoulos expressed appreciation to Sen. Col. Han for his contribution to the development of Greece-China military ties, and extended warm welcome to Sen. Col. Xu for his new post in Greece.

Guests to the reception expressed their congratulations on the achievements of China-Greece military cooperation and exchanges, extended best wishes to Sen. Col. Han and warm welcome to Sen. Col. Xu.
