On November 8, Counsellor Ning Yi, wife of Chinese Ambassador to Greece, met with the renowned Greek Singer Alkistis Protopsalti at the Embassy.

Mme. Protopsalti recalled her wonderful visit to Beijing in 2007 for performance at the concert marking the 35^th anniversary of the establishment of Greece-China diplomatic ties. She spoke highly of the time-honored and splendid Chinese culture as well as the profound friendship between the two peoples of China and Greece, and said that as art knows no boundaries, music can connect the two peoples more tightly. She said she felt honored to sing a Chinese song at the closing ceremony of the 1^st China-Greece Cities Forum which will be convened this weekend at Athens. She expressed her hope to visit China again someday to give more performance, making more contributions to Greece-China cultural exchanges.

For her part, Counsellor Ning Yi said that as China and Greece both being ancient civilizations, our two peoples have always respect and admire each other's history and culture. She hoped Protopsalti could actively participate in the Cultural Exchanges and Cultural Industry Cooperation Year of 2017 and play a positive role in promoting cultural exchanges between our two countries and enhancing the two peoples' friendship. Ning commended Protopsalti for the latter's impressive performance in China in 2007 and wished her a fully successful performance this weekend at the closing ceremony of China-Greece Cities Forum.
