At the invitation of the Indonesian government, President Xi Jinping's special representative and Vice President Han Zheng attended the inauguration of new Indonesian President in Jakarta on October 20, 2024. During his visit to Indonesia from October 19 to 21, he met with new President Prabowo Subianto, then President Joko Widodo and newly inaugurated Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka respectively.

In the meeting with Prabowo, Han Zheng first conveyed warm congratulations and good wishes from President Xi Jinping to President Prabowo. Han Zheng said that President Prabowo's visit to China right after his election victory demonstrated his deep affection and profound friendship toward China and his high regard for developing China-Indonesia relations. President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo reached important common understandings on further consolidating and deepening cooperation between the two countries in their meeting. President Prabowo expounded on a series of important proposals such as food security as well as poverty reduction and eradication in his inaugural address, which are highly consistent with the people-centered development approach proposed by President Xi Jinping. Han Zheng affirmed China's support for President Prabowo and the smooth exercise of governance of the new government, expressing confidence that Indonesia, under the leadership of President Prabowo, will achieve greater progress in national development. China is ready to work with Indonesia to follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, push the building of the China-Indonesia community with a shared future to new levels constantly, and contribute to maintaining regional peace and stability and promoting world development and prosperity.

Han Zheng put forward three suggestions for the development of China-Indonesia relations in the next stage. First, strengthen high-level strategic mutual trust and continue supporting each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns. Second, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation on all fronts to deliver benefits of cooperation outcomes to more people. Third, carry out closer international collaboration to promote the development of global governance in a more just and reasonable direction.

Prabowo asked Han Zheng to convey his sincere thanks and cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping, and warmly welcomed Vice President Han Zheng as President Xi Jinping's special representative to attend his inauguration in Indonesia. Prabowo said that China is a major country with significant influence and a strong cooperative partner for Indonesia. The new Indonesian government attaches great importance to developing relations with China and will continue President Joko's friendly policy toward China. Indonesia is ready to further deepen mutual support and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides, strengthen coordination on international and regional affairs, and promote greater development of bilateral relations.

In the meeting with Joko, Han Zheng conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and good wishes to President Joko. Han Zheng said that the past 10 years have witnessed high-level development of China-Indonesia relations. President Xi Jinping and President Joko have jointly led the continuous upgrading of China-Indonesia relations into a new era of building a community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Indonesia to carry forward the fine tradition of bilateral friendship and cooperation, deepen all-round strategic coordination, jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, ensure the smooth operation of major cooperation projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and continue to write a new chapter of solidarity, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results. Han Zheng expressed the hope and belief that President Joko will, as always, show care and support for the development of bilateral relations, and continue to contribute to carrying forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Joko asked Han Zheng to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, and expressed thanks for President Xi Jinping's recent phone call with him. Joko said that in recent years, Indonesia-China cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a symbol of the friendship between the two countries. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the new Indonesian government, bilateral relations will constantly reach new levels.

In the meeting with Gibran, Han Zheng congratulated Gibran on his election and assuming the new post. Han Zheng said that China and Indonesia are good neighbors and good partners, and that the cooperation between the two sides is highly complementary and mutually beneficial, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. China is ready to strengthen the synergy of development strategies of the two countries in light of the policy priorities of the new Indonesian government, and continue to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Gibran said that the new Indonesian government is ready to work with China to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, continue to consolidate the good momentum in the development of bilateral relations, and unswervingly deepen and substantiate bilateral cooperation to better benefit the two countries and two peoples.
