On October 20, 2024 local time, President Xi Jinping's Special Representative and Vice President Han Zheng attended the inauguration of Indonesia's new President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, and met with the new president.

Han Zheng first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm congratulations and best wishes to President Prabowo Subianto. Han Zheng said that President Prabowo Subianto's visit to China immediately after his election reflects his deep friendship with China and the great importance he attaches to developing relations between China and Indonesia. President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Mr. President Prabowo Subianto and the two leaders reached important common understandings on further consolidating and deepening bilateral cooperation. In his inaugural address, Mr. President Prabowo Subianto outlined a series of important proposals such as food independence and poverty reduction, which are highly compatible with the people-centered philosophy of development put forward by President Xi Jinping. China will support the smooth governance of President Prabowo Subianto and the new Indonesian government. Han Zheng put forward three proposals for the development of China-Indonesia relations in the next stage. First, build a high level of strategic mutual trust and continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. Second, deepen all-round mutually beneficial cooperation to benefit more people of the two countries. Third, engage in closer international coordination to make global governance more just and equitable.

Prabowo Subianto asked Han Zheng to convey his heartfelt thanks and cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping. He warmly welcomed Vice President Han Zheng to Indonesia as President Xi Jinping's Special Representative to attend his inauguration. Prabowo Subianto said, China is a major country with important influence and a strong cooperation partner of Indonesia. The new Indonesian government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, will continue President Joko Widodo's friendly policy toward China, and is willing to further deepen mutual support and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides, step up coordination on international and regional affairs, and push for greater development of bilateral relations.
