On October 13, 2024 local time, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council held talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the premises of the Vietnamese government. Li Qiang said that in August this year, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping held talks with General Secretary and President To Lam, drawing a new blueprint for and injecting fresh impetus into the development of China-Viet Nam relations. China is ready to work with Viet Nam to deliver on the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, maintain high-level communication, and continuously enhance mutual trust. China will also work with Viet Nam to uphold the original aspiration of good-neighborliness and friendship, reinforce confidence in the two countries' respective paths and systems, enhance the determination of solidarity and cooperation, continuously expand comprehensive strategic cooperation, and deepen the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. Li Qiang pointed out, China and Viet Nam are both developing countries standing at a critical stage in their modernization efforts. China firmly supports Viet Nam in steadily pursuing a socialist path suited to its national conditions. China is ready to work with Viet Nam to strengthen the synergy of development strategies, give full play to the mechanism of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, implement the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Two Corridors, One Economic Circle" initiative, deepen cooperation in areas such as connectivity, trade, investment, tourism, healthcare, and disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as expand cooperation in local currency settlement and emerging industries including the digital economy and green development, so as to constantly upgrade bilateral cooperation in various fields. The two sides should take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the China-Viet Nam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, both taking place next year, to further deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and amity between the two peoples, especially the younger generations, and carry forward the cause of China-Viet Nam friendship. The two sides should stick to the principle of friendly consultation, properly handle differences and expand maritime cooperation. China is ready to work with Viet Nam to strengthen coordination and cooperation at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, promote more just and equitable global governance, safeguard the interests of developing countries, and guide the joint efforts of the international community to build a community with a shared future for mankind. Pham Minh Chinh said, Viet Nam and China enjoy a close relationship of comrades and brothers, and their traditional friendship has grown ever stronger as time goes by. Noting that China is the only country that encompasses all of Viet Nam's foreign policy priorities, he said that developing relations with China is a top priority and a strategic choice for the CPV and the Vietnamese government. Viet Nam abides by the one-China principle, supports China's development and growth, as well as the series of global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping. He thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to Viet Nam. Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Guided by the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, Viet Nam is ready to work with China to enhance high-level exchanges, strengthen the synergy of development strategies, advance cooperation in such areas as finance, investment, agriculture, science and technology, accelerate connectivity in transportation infrastructure, explore new modes like cross-border economic cooperation zones, expand cooperation in digital economy, green development and other emerging sectors, and intensify exchanges in education, tourism, and youth exchanges. Viet Nam is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to safeguard the common interests of developing countries. Pham Minh Chinh called on both sides to deliver on the common understandings reached between the high-level leaders of the two Parties and countries, properly manage differences through friendly consultation, and jointly safeguard maritime peace and stability. Following the talks, the two heads of government attended the exchange ceremony of cooperation documents in various fields, including connectivity, agricultural products, customs, finance, human resources, media, and education. Prior to the talks, Pham Minh Chinh held a welcoming ceremony for Li Qiang. Li Qiang also paid tribute to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid a wreath. During the visit, the two sides will jointly issue the Joint Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. |
