On September 2, 2024, Vice President Han Zheng held talks with Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Han Zheng welcomed Alupo to attend the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China and asked Vice President Alupo to convey President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Han Zheng stated that China and Uganda have a traditional friendship and always adhere to sincere treatment and win-win cooperation. China is ready to work with Uganda to take the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state as a guide to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, seek closer synergy of the Belt and Road cooperation with Uganda Vision 2040, and help deepen and substantiate China-Uganda cooperation, so as to make greater contributions to building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future. Han Zheng made three suggestions for the future development of China-Uganda relations. First, the two sides should continuously deepen mutual trust and expand exchanges to consolidate the political foundation of the development of China-Uganda relations. Second, the two sides should adhere to win-win cooperation and jointly pursue development, take the implementation of the outcomes of the summit as an opportunity to stimulate the potential for practical cooperation, and promote China-Uganda relations to a new level. Third, the two sides should continue to uphold peace and safeguard justice. China evaluates positively Uganda's successful hosting of the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit and the Third South Summit, and appreciates Uganda's support for and active participation in the three major global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping. China is ready to strengthen strategic coordination with Uganda, practice true multilateralism, and gather strength for the development of the "Global South". On behalf of the Ugandan government and people, Alupo conveys warm greetings to the Chinese government and people, and wishes the 2024 FOCAC Summit a complete success. Uganda is ready to work with China to advance the modernization of China and Africa, and jointly build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future. Uganda-China relations are close and friendly. Uganda highly evaluates and thanks China for its valuable support over the years for the development of Uganda in various fields, expecting that Uganda and China will continuously achieve new results in cooperation covering such aspects as education, grain, digital area, climate change and infrastructure construction. |
