From August 12 to 14, 2024, State Councilor Shen Yiqin visited Serbia, during which she met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and had talks with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević.

Aleksandar Vučić asked Shen Yiqin to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Serbia in May has upgraded bilateral relations. Serbia values the ironclad friendship between Serbia and China, and is willing to work with China to deepen cooperation in all aspects, including sports, and join hands for common development to benefit the two peoples. Aleksandar Vučić said, the Serbian government will work with China to actively implement the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, take the specialized EXPO 2027 to be held in Serbia as an opportunity to jointly deepen Belt and Road cooperation and make solid progress in building a community with a shared future between Serbia and China in the new era.

Shen Yiqin conveyed cordial regards from President Xi Jinping to President Aleksandar Vučić, and greetings from Premier Li Qiang to Prime Minister Miloš Vučević. She said, China attaches great importance to the development of China-Serbia relations, and will continue to work with Serbia to deliver on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, focus on advancing the building of a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including economy, sports, tourism, and women's cause, and solidify the ironclad friendship.

During her stay in Serbia, Shen Yiqin gained an in-depth understanding of the development of sports in Serbia, in particular, the youth training and league systems of football, basketball, and volleyball, known as the "three major ball games". She also visited the China Cultural Center in Belgrade and the Hungary-Serbia Railway project.
