On the afternoon of July 11, 2024, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping and Goodwill Ambassador of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, met in Beijing with Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Winnie Byanyima, and Assistant Director-General of the WHO Jérôme Salomon. Noting that eliminating HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis is of great significance to safeguarding human health and well-being and promoting global sustainable development, Peng Liyuan said that UNAIDS and WHO have carried out a lot of active and fruitful work in relevant fields.
