On the morning of June 7, 2024, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council held talks with Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who is paying an official visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Li Qiang said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. Over the past 73 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two sides have always treated each other with sincerity and shared weal and woe, forging a rock-solid and ironclad friendship. President Xi Jinping will meet with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to plan and guide the development of China-Pakistan relations. China has always prioritized Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy, and stands ready to work with Pakistan to carry forward the traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era to better benefit the two peoples. Li Qiang pointed out that China firmly supports Pakistan in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and in achieving unity, stability, security and prosperity. China is willing to work with Pakistan to enhance the synergy of development strategies, centering on building an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), make solid progress in the construction of key projects, deepen cooperation in industry, agriculture, aerospace, information technology, ecology, environmental protection and other fields, and expand the scale of trade and investment cooperation, so as to better promote common development. China is willing to import more quality products from Pakistan and supports competent Chinese enterprises in investing and doing business in Pakistan. China will continue to support Pakistan in improving its people's livelihoods and its post-disaster reconstruction, and is willing to actively carry out exchanges and cooperation with Pakistan in such fields as culture, tourism, local governments and think tanks, so that the China-Pakistan friendship will enjoy greater support among the people. China is ready to strengthen bilateral and multilateral counter-terrorism and security cooperation with Pakistan and support Pakistan in strengthening its counter-terrorism capacity-building. Li expressed the hope that Pakistan will continue to relentlessly ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan. Noting that the friendship between Pakistan and China has been ever-stronger and unbreakable, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that both sides have always treated each other with sincerity, stood together with mutual assistance, and stayed heart-to-heart with each other, and have been as close as brothers to each other. China is Pakistan's most reliable partner, and Pakistan thanks China for its significant contributions to Pakistan's economic and social development. Pakistan firmly supports China's position on the Taiwan question and issues related to Xizang, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and the South China Sea, and supports China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan is willing to work with China to make in-depth progress in the construction of the CPEC under the framework of the Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, investment, agriculture and culture, and push for more fruitful results from the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, and from the building of a Pakistan-China community with a shared future. The Pakistani side expressed its deep condolences over the Chinese citizens killed in the terrorist attack in Dasu, and will use all its strength to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan, and resolutely thwart any attempts to undermine the Pakistan-China friendship. After the talks, Premier Li and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif jointly witnessed a signing ceremony for a number of bilateral cooperation documents in such fields as transportation, industry, agriculture, market regulation, people's livelihoods, film and television, and capacity-building.
