On May 27, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media on President Xi Jinping's attendance at the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li briefed on that and answered questions from the journalists.

Deng Li said, the conference will focus on conducting in-depth discussions on implementing leaders' common understandings, expanding China-Arab cooperation in various fields, and accelerating the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future, adding that specific measures will be studied at the conference. The conference is scheduled to adopt a number of outcome documents, which will further build consensus between China and Arab states, plan for cooperation in the next stage, and make a common voice of China and Arab states on the Palestinian question. On May 30, President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony together with four Arab heads of state, namely, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Tunisia's President Kais Saied, and the United Arab Emirates' President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who will pay state visits to China, and President Xi will deliver a keynote speech. This fully reflects the common wish of China and Arab states to unite and cooperate and to continuously promote the China-Arab relationship to new levels.

Deng Li noted that the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum has made remarkable achievements since its establishment twenty years ago, and has yielded important outcomes in multiple aspects under the care and attention of both sides' leaders. China's relationship with many Arab states has developed from a "partnership" to a "strategic cooperative relationship", and further upgraded to a "strategic partnership", achieving leapfrog development. President Xi Jinping has attended the opening ceremonies of the ministerial conference of the forum twice and made important policy declarations towards the Arab world four times, charting a strategic course for China-Arab mutual trust and cooperation. At the first China-Arab States Summit held in 2022, both sides agreed to fully build a China-Arab community with a shared future in the new era, and the China-Arab relationship ushers in a new era of comprehensive and deepening development. President Xi Jinping attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech, encapsulating the spirit of China-Arab friendship as "solidarity and mutual assistance, equality and mutual benefit, inclusiveness and mutual learning", and outlining the course of building a China-Arab community with a shared future. With the efforts of both sides, China-Arab strategic mutual trust has been continuously deepened, practical cooperation has brought tangible benefits to both peoples, people-to-people and cultural exchanges have been further enriched, and active progress has been made in building a China-Arab community with a shared future.

Deng Li stressed that China and Arab states are both important members of developing countries and significant forces in the international community, shouldering the common historical mission of achieving national rejuvenation and accelerating national development. The development of China-Arab relations benefits the people of both sides, and is also conducive to promoting peace and development in the Middle East region, which adds stability to the changing and turbulent world. China will continue to work with Arab states to build a China-Arab community with a shared future, uphold the spirit of China-Arab friendship, firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, advance cooperation in various fields within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, create brilliance through exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, work together for a more just and equitable international order, and build a model of collective cooperation among developing countries featuring solidarity, cooperation, self-reliance and self-improvement.

Deng Li also answered questions about China-Arab relations and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, among others.
