On July 9, 2022, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message of condolence to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, expressing deep condolence over the sudden and unfortunate passing of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Li Keqiang said, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had made positive contributions to pushing for the improvement and development of China-Japan relations. I met with him on multiple occasions and had helpful exchanges on promoting bilateral relations. I would like to strengthen communication and dialogue with Prime Minister Kishida to advance the sustained, sound and stable development of China-Japan relations.
