On the afternoon of February 6, 2022, President Xi Jinping met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since China and Kyrgyzstan established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, the two countries have seen leapfrog development of bilateral relations and reached a high-level comprehensive strategic partnership. China firmly supports Kyrgyzstan in independently choosing its development path and in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and security, and stands as Kyrgyzstan's trustworthy and reliable friend and partner. Based on the established cooperation, China will deepen the comprehensive win-win cooperation with Kyrgyzstan to create more benefits for the peoples of both countries.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two countries should further align development strategies. China is willing to increase imports of high-quality green agricultural and sideline products from Kyrgyzstan, support more powerful Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in Kyrgyzstan, and advance relevant key cooperation projects. China will exert the joint border pandemic control mechanism to improve ports' cargo clearance capacity. China supports the building of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway and stands ready to expand cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in such fields as medical and healthcare services, poverty alleviation, vocational education, women and youth affairs, and set up a Luban Workshop in Kyrgyzstan as soon as possible to help Kyrgyzstan foster more professionals. China will continue to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in combating the pandemic and provide more assistance for COVID-19 vaccines. China will elevate the security cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in an all-round manner to jointly safeguard the security and stability of both countries and the region. China will strengthen the coordination and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan regarding international and regional affairs to uphold international fairness and justice.

Zhaparov said it was his honor to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. China has overcome the difficulties brought by the pandemic to host the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. The opening ceremony, which was so beautiful, has demonstrated the true Olympic spirit and will bring the world more solidarity, friendship and hope. The Kyrgyzstan-China relationship is built on the spirit of true equality, mutual trust and mutual benefit. He appreciated China's long-term valuable support to Kyrgyzstan, saying his country will as always firmly support China in upholding its sovereignty, security and other core interests on issues related to Xinjiang, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Kyrgyzstan supports President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative, and will work with China to promote pragmatic cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, transportation, energy and education and build the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway into a flagship project in the Belt and Road cooperation. He welcomed more Chinese enterprises to Kyrgyzstan for investment and cooperation, promising that his country will provide them with a sound business environment and protect their legitimate and lawful interests. Kyrgyzstan will strengthen coordination and cooperation with China regarding international and regional affairs to jointly combat terrorism and organized crimes and jointly safeguard common security of both countries and the region. It is convinced that our joint statement today will add new vigor to the development of the Kyrgyzstan-China relationship.

Both sides issued the Joint Statement Between the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and the President of Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and signed multiple documents for cooperation in culture, green development, translation and publication of each other's classical works, etc.
