Wang Yi Meets with Minister of State Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber of UAE
2018-01-31 09:47

On January 31, 2018, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the visiting Minister of State Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that China has always regarded the UAE as one of the priority directions for its diplomacy in the Middle East. In recent years, both sides have actively implemented the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, and achieved fruitful cooperation outcomes. The strategic value of China-UAE relations has been continuously raised. China is willing to work with the UAE to further deepen practical cooperation in all fields, in particular the entire industrial chain and all-round cooperation in the field of energy, so as to jointly build a model project for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" between China and the UAE. China understands and supports the UAE's efforts to maintain its own security and stability and hopes the UAE will continue to act as a "stabilizer" in regional affairs.

Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said that the UAE attaches great importance to developing relations with China and hopes to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries. The UAE is willing to take more active measures to participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, continue to deepen bilateral strategic cooperation in the field of energy resources, expand cooperation in economy, trade, culture and society and welcome more Chinese enterprises to participate in the development and construction projects in the UAE.

Both sides also exchanged views on the issues in the Middle East.
