On January 24, 2018 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the General Office of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs Liu He met at request with Minister of Finance Bill Morneau of Canada in Davos. Liu He expressed that in recent years, China-Canada relations have achieved substantial progress. During Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to China last year, the leaders of the two countries reached many important consensus, which provided strategic guidance for the development of China-Canada relations. China holds a positive attitude toward promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Both sides share extensive common interests in boosting respective economic development, advancing economic globalization and safeguarding the multilateral trade system. Both sides should speed up implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, in a bid to push forward China-Canada strategic partnership for new development. Bill Morneau noted that Canada is willing to further expand and deepen its friendly relations with China and hopes to, together with China, take more actions and conduct more cooperation in various fields. Canada supports the free trade policies and stands ready to continuously carry out China-Canada Economic and Financial Strategic Dialogue, so as to promote the trade cooperation between the two countries for constant development. |
