On January 23, 2018 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the General Office of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs Liu He met with Vice President and Head of the Federal Department of Finance Ueli Maurer of the Swiss Confederation in Zurich.

Liu He said that under the personal care and strong promotion of the two heads of state, political mutual trust between China and Switzerland has been remarkably strengthened, and economic and trade cooperation has been continuously deepened. In particular, last year, President Xi Jinping successfully visited Switzerland and President Doris Leuthard of the Swiss Confederation attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China, which elevated China-Switzerland relations to the best development level in history. Both sides should further implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen cooperation in various fields and deeply promote China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership for forward-looking development.

Liu He noted that China is deepening reform and expanding opening up in an all-round way in line with the strategic deployments made at the 19th CPC National Congress. China actively implements the spirit of the important speech made by President Xi Jinping last year in Davos, remains committed to creating a rule-based business environment with equal competition, and will further expand opening up in the fields of finance and manufacturing, which will bring new opportunities to China-Switzerland cooperation. China speaks highly of Switzerland's active participation in the "Belt and Road" construction, and hopes that both sides could further strengthen cooperation in projects, customs, cross-border e-commerce and finance. China welcomes more Swiss enterprises to invest in China, and appreciates and hopes that Switzerland will always maintain an open attitude to the Chinese investment.

Ueli Maurer expressed that he admires very much the great achievements made by the Chinese government and the Chinese people. Switzerland will always open its doors to China, and is willing to carry out cooperation in multiple fields with China. The Swiss side is strongly interested in China's opening up, stands ready to push more Swiss enterprises including financial institutions to invest in China, and will also spare no efforts to continue supporting Chinese enterprises in investing in Switzerland. Switzerland is willing to deepen cooperation in the "Belt and Road" construction with China to promote the all-round development of the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries.
