On August 31, 2016, President Xi Jinping met with Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman of Saudi Arabia at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli was present. Xi Jinping welcomed Mohammad bin Salman to visit China and attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit, as well as congratulated on the success of the first meeting of China-Saudi Arabia High-level Committee. Xi Jinping pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Saudi Arabia 26 years ago, both sides have always enjoyed sincere friendship as well as equal treatment and achieved many outcomes from cooperation in various fields. Regarding Saudi Arabia as an important cooperation partner for jointly building the "Belt and Road", China is willing to make joint efforts with the country to enrich China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership so as to better benefit the two peoples and promote world and regional peace. Xi Jinping stressed that China and Saudi Arabia should consolidate strategic mutual trust and work together to meet the challenges. China supports Saudi Arabia's efforts in safeguarding its security and stability and will encourage all parties concerned to jointly maintain regional peace and stability. The two sides should speed up the docking of development strategies and deepen interest integration. Bilateral practical cooperation should be guided by the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". China is willing to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, manufacturing industry, finance, investment, energy and other fields with Saudi Arabia. Both sides should implement major strategic cooperation projects and serve each other's development. With a large quantity of advantageous production capacity, equipments, and innovative technologies going global, China can become a cooperation partner of Saudi Arabia in advancing the economic diversification strategy and the development of the manufacturing industry. Xi Jinping pointed out that the international community highly anticipates the G20 Hangzhou Summit to play a positive role in revitalizing the world economy and international economic cooperation. China and Saudi Arabia are both important members of the G20 and emerging market countries. We should earnestly give play to main forum role of the G20 in international economic cooperation so that the Hangzhou Summit can make greater contributions to boosting world economic growth and improving global governance. Mohammad bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia-China relations are very important. The two sides share extensive common interests, similar positions in many international affairs and strong complementarity in economy. The government and people of Saudi Arabia attach great importance to relations with China and regard China as an important strategic partner. Saudi Arabia firmly supports China's stance on the Taiwan issue, the South China Sea issue and other issues, hoping to further deepen bilateral political and economic relations through Saudi Arabia-China High-level Committee. The country stands ready to align its own development strategies with the "Belt and Road" initiative so as to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, logistics, finance and other fields.
