On August 30, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mohammad bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, who was in China for the first meeting of China-Saudi Arabia High-level Committee.

Yang Jiechi congratulated on the success of the first meeting of China-Saudi Arabia High-level Committee. He said that China highly values the role of Saudi Arabia in regional and international affairs and takes Saudi Arabia as an important cooperative partner in jointly building the "Belt and Road". China is willing to make joint efforts with Saudi Arabia to constantly promote China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership. China attaches great importance to cooperation with Saudi Arabia under the G20 framework, hoping that the two sides can make joint efforts with relevant parties to make the G20 Hangzhou Summit a success.

Mohammad bin Salman expressed that Saudi Arabia stands ready to make joint efforts with China to enhance mutual trust, expand cooperation and strengthen coordination and collaboration in international and regional affairs through Saudi Arabia-China High-level Committee. Saudi Arabia supports China to host a successful G20 Hangzhou Summit.
