The Beijing Olympic Press Centre is launched in a high-profile ceremony today to meet the increasing demand of domestic and international media for the information about the Beijing 2008 Games.

"To provide high-standard media services is an important part of BOCOG's work to host a successful Olympic Games."

In his speech, Jiang extended his sincere invitation to journalists from both home and abroad to cover Beijing's Olympic preparations and China's rapid development and to promote the understanding of China by people all over the world, saying that "in the next stage, Beijing will learn from previous Games their successful experience and expertise so as to further improve the news and information releasing of the 2008 Olympics, and to upgrade Beijing's Olympic media services."

"Greater efforts will be made to further promote the theme of 'New Beijing, Great Olympics' and to showcase to the entire world the new images of Beijing and China," Jiang concluded.
