China and Greece are among the world’s most important cradles for human civilizations. Ushering into the new era, the two countries are also crucial partners as we build the Belt and Road together and engage in exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations. Ever since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1972, China-Greece relations have remained robust and gone from strength to strength despite the changing international landscape. The fruitful pragmatic cooperation and vibrant civilizational exchanges between us have delivered tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations. 

During the official visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to China in November 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that exchanges between civilizations and win-win cooperation are the strong bonds linking the two countries. The important consensus reached between the two leaders has charted the future course of China-Greece relations.

We highly value our traditional friendship with Greece. Adhering to the strategic guidance, we are poised to work with Greece to promote openness and cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and continue to deepen collaboration in such areas as economy and trade, education, culture, scientific research, tourism, and youth work. The friendship between China and Greece is not only a cooperation between the two countries, but also a dialogue between the two great civilizations. As Heraclitus said, everything is flowing, nothing is permanent. China stands ready to work with Greece to deepen cooperation, promote the exchange of civilizations that are inclusive and eclectic with the achievements of civilizations that transcend time and space, advocate a more just and reasonable international order, and let the two ancient civilizations shine with new light in the new era.
