Notice of the adjustment of  Prevention and Control Measures for Persons Traveling from Greece to China
2022-12-28 21:27

In accordance with the requirements of the State Council's joint defense and joint control mechanism, "Notice on Interim Measures for the Exchange of Chinese and Foreign Personnel," starting from January 8, 2023, the remote prevention and control measures for people traveling from Greece to China will be optimized and adjusted as follows:

I. Testing requirements

1. Inbound travelers will need to show a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to their departure. The test result will need to be noted in the Customs Health Declaration form. Inbound travelers no longer need to apply for a health code from Chinese Embassy or Consulates. Those who test positive will need to postpone their travel until they have a negative test result.

2. The PCR test must be carried out using a nasopharyngeal swab, and the detection method should be Real-time PCR/RT-PCR. The test report must provide the name, address, and contact information of the testing facility, as well as the complete information of the applicant: name, sampling time, date of birth, certificate number, and other information.

Please note that rapid tests cannot be used as PCR tests to apply for a health code.

3. The Chinese side will accept PCR test results issued by local, certified testing facilities in Greece. Because the PCR testing facilities that were previously recommended by our Embassy understand well the relevant requirements for PCR testing, it is still best to choose one of these recommended facilities first.

II. Health declaration

1. Travelers need to declare the negative test result to China Customs by filling out the Health Declaration Form either on the Wechat mini-program of China Customs (scan the QR code below), at https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/htdeclweb/home/pages/healthDeclare/declare.html or via the China Customs APP.

III. Entry Quarantine

1. PCR tests will no longer be conducted on inbound travelers upon arrival. Those with no issues to report in their health declaration who have received a regular customs inspection and quarantine clearance can enter China without having to undergo quarantine. Those who have issues to report in their health declaration or symptoms such as fever will be subjected to antigen testing at Customs. For travelers who test positive, those determined to be asymptomatic or mild cases without serious underlying health conditions may self-quarantine or exercise self-care at home or in their place of residence. Other types of cases are advised to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Those who test negative shall go through regular customs inspection and quarantine clearance procedures in accordance with the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law and other laws and regulations of China in force.

2. For matters such as health declarations to China Customs, PCR test report inspection, inspection and quarantine after entry, isolation, and observation, travelers should consult the airline company and the relevant competent authority at their place of entry.
