Notice on Updating China Visa Policy
2022-06-15 16:58

Since June 15, the Chinese Embassy in Greece has optimized the visa policy for foreigners to visit China, with the main adjustments as follows:

1. Exemption of the Invitation Letters (PU) for personnel going to work in China

For those who are approved to work in China by the competent authorities in China, they can apply for a work visa with the valid Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People's Republic of China or the original valid Foreigner’s Work Permit, there is no need to submit the invitation letter (PU) issued by the relevant government departments in China.

2. Exemption of the Invitation letters (PU) for family members of those returning to work in China

For family members (spouses, parents, children under the age of 18 and parents of spouses) of those foreigners who resume work and production (including foreigners who have worked in China) to apply to stay in China, there is no need to submit the Invitation Letters (PU) issued by relevant government departments in China.

Other family members (adult children, nonmarried partners) of those foreigners who resume work and production (including foreigners who have worked in China) can apply for corresponding visas if they really need to go to China, and do not need to submit the Invitation Letter (PU) issued by relevant government departments in China.

3. Expand the scope of visa of humanitarian reasons

On the basis of the current reasons such as going to funeral, visiting critically ill relatives, bringing foreign minor children to China, and taking care of Chinese partners who are unable to live independently, foreign family members (spouses, parents, parents of spouses, children, spouses of children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren) of Chinese nationals and foreigners with permanent residence in China , can apply for the corresponding type of visa to go to China for reunion or visit relatives.

Special reminder: At the present, the Chinese Embassy in Greece and the Chinese Visa Application Center in Athens still do not accept visa applications for private reasons such as travel and medical treatment. In principle, before entering China, foreigners should be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine approved by China or the World Health Organization for emergency use or marketing.
